Self-care isn’t just a “Trend”
“Self-care” is about knowing when you are drained mentally, physically or emotionally and replenishing those thoughts, feelings and emotions before you’re down to zero. Self-care is a time for reflection and acknowledgement; it’s a chance to understand your place in the world and where you get to know the inner you.
Maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself is vital in making sure you have a healthy relationship with others. Taking care of your mind, body and soul is an important part of building resilience, or bouncing back from trauma, stress and fatigue. As simple as this may sound many of us do not take time for ourselves not realizing that our own self-awareness can have a positive effect on our overall mindset and health.
DESIGNATE TIME….with four kids (+ 🐾), a husband and running a household, I know what a struggle it is at times to have a minute to yourself. Try scheduling a day or even a couple hours to have some alone time. A few minutes of relaxation can make a huge difference in your overall mental wellbeing.
Here are a few self-care tips in resetting YOU….
SELF CARE ROUTINE
Take a bath - candles or incense in lavender, eucalyptus and bergamot are known to have positive effects for relieving stress, anxiety and depression
Deep Conditioning Treatment - lather, rinse, repeat. but don’t forget to deep condition! Soothe the scalp and release toxins with a good deep conditioning hair treatment. I highly recommend trying Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask by Briogeo
MASKING TIME - try resetting and cleansing out the impurities with a good facial. My personal favorites for reviving the dull burnt out feeling is the Jet-Lag Mask from Summer Friday’s and the Triple-Dose Resurfacing Mask by Korres.
Whether it’s giving yourself that much needed facial or dedicating strategic time for whatever it might be, make sure you do. Remember that adequate sleep, a healthy diet and regular light exercise is the foundation for overall wellness. Never be too hard on yourself and seek professional help when needed.
Self Care is not Selfish
